2.4.12 Court Summons Policy
LUU will grant up to 5 days of paid leave per annum if you are summoned to provide evidence in a court of law in relation to a court case. You must inform your manager of the dates you are required to attend the hearing and provide your manager with written evidence of your summons. If you are required to attend court for more than 5 days, you must inform your manager of this and further discretionary leave may be granted to support you in attending. You will not automatically be granted paid leave for attending parts of the court proceedings where you are not required to give evidence but would prefer to attend. For example, attending the hearing of other evidence or the verdict. In the latter situation you can discuss the circumstances with your manager who will confirm whether discretionary paid leave will be granted or whether it is more appropriate to use holiday or unpaid leave to attend.
