1.2 Deductions from Pay*

Your salary will be paid net of tax, national insurance and pension contributions if these  are incurred. 

Deductions will be made if you have an unauthorised absence from work. The amount deducted will represent the unauthorised absence period. 

If you are on the monthly payroll, LUU can arrange for other things to be  deducted from your pay with your prior agreement if you wish. These are as follows.  

Trade Union Subscriptions  

If you are a member of a recognised trade union LUU will arrange for your subscriptions  to be deducted from your wage and paid directly to the trade union. 

Parking Permits 

You can sign up to an annual parking permit, the cost of this will be deducted monthly from your salary. See Staff benefits page of the staff intranet for more information. 

Discounted Travel Cards 

Monthly paid staff are eligible to apply for an MCard. This is a discounted travel pass that you are able to purchase on a yearly basis and then have salary deductions taken from your payroll each month before tax. Contact unihr@leeds.ac.uk for more details.

Salary Advance 

We have the capability to issue you with a small, interest free, salary advance that is repayable directly from your pay, helping you to navigate a financially stressful situation with a simple solution. See staff benefits page of the staff intranet for more information.
